In one of her first orders of business, On March 5, 2025 U.S. Department of Education (USDE) Secretary Linda McMahon has opened an Office for Civil Rights (OCR) investigation of the District of Columbia Public Schools for alleged failures to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The investigation will seek to determine whether the school district is failing to evaluate or reevaluate students with disabilities.
