October 2023 – Deidre Parsons is in the Spotlight

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member? I think the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member is the opportunity we have to network with peers from around the country. Even though the laws and rules vary from state to state, we all have the same problems. It is awesome that we can email or call someone and get great advice. In addition, the conference is another opportunity to network in person. Another equally great benefit is having the opportunity to serve on the NAPSA Executive Board. I get to work with great people who are experts in their fields.

August 2023 – Theresa Bracken is in the Spotlight

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member? I am proud to be a NAPSA member and also a board member because the organization brings a unique group of professionals together who serve students with disabilities. As a collective group, we can learn from each other and share ideas to better serve our students. I also feel I have reached a point in my career where I have a great deal of knowledge to share with younger colleagues who may be starting out in the field and can provide guidance and mentorship.

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member? Networking in NAPSA is one of its greatest benefits. Through networking I am able to stay current on up and coming trends and research based practices for improved outcomes in schools. NAPSA offers resources of the annual conference and ongoing webinars and resources on the website. I enjoy collaborating with others in the field of education beyond Ohio.

It also provides me with an invaluable support system when I need additional information to meet the needs of my students with disabilities and their families.

What is the greatest benefit of being a NAPSA member? The benefit I find to be of the most significant to my position from my NAPSA membership is the opportunity to maintain connections with other members. The opportunity to reach out and connect with other professionals in Student Support, trauma-informed care, and Student Services is invaluable. I also regularly visit the updated legislation pages for insight into current trends surrounding mental health and special education, legislation, and funding to ensure that I am kept current with information and topics that affect our department and students.
